WHAT WE SAW: LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES NATIONAL RECREATION AREA is a densely forested area with developed glens. There are 17 campgrounds, most have boat ramps, 22 boat ramps, 6 day-use and picnic areas, and woodland drives and hiking trails. You can drive through the Elk And Buffalo Prairie and see the animals in their natural setting. At the Golden Pond Planetarium you can see stellar programs. At The Homestead 1850 Farm you can see re-enactors in a 19th Century backwoods farm; OR at the Woodlands Nature Station learn backwoods skills; OR both. You could take you ATV or dirt bike on an adventure in the 2500 acre Turkey Bay Off-Highway Vehicle Area. You could bring your horse to the Wrangler’s Campground and ride the trails. You could bring your rifles and pistols and practice at the Golden Pond Target Range. There are so many places to boondock, but remember to register.

They serve ham, pork, chicken and bologna sandwiched with a side of cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans and Hillbilly beans. I had the pulled pork sandwich with hillbilly beans.
